Kathryn Thomas could be set to front the Irish version of Dancing With The Stars.

It has been revealed that the Carlow native is gearing up for talks with producers of the star-studded dance show, which will replace the RTÉ One programme she previously hosted – The Voice of Ireland.

Producer for the show, Larry Bass, from Shinawil Productions, has admitted that the DWTS team are adamant to meet with Kathryn, after she did “an excellent job” on The Voice.

“Kathryn is one of many presenters we will talk to. We have a very close working relationship with Kathryn.

“She hadn’t really done entertainment television per se until she came on The Voice and she did an excellent job,” he told the Herald.

Speaking about whether they will consider any other well-known presenters for the role, Larry kept his cards close to his chest.

“I cannot comment on any names, as at this stage nobody is ruled in or out. We will look at who is available and go through the selection process like we would on any other show.

“There’s many qualified candidates out there. We’re blessed in a small country to have hugely talented people and we’re looking forward to talking to a number of them and seeing where we go,” he said.

Larry also admitted that while it was hard to say goodbye to The Voice of Ireland after five seasons, he’s sure an Irish version of Strictly Come Dancing will go down a hit with viewers.

“It was bittersweet to lose The Voice after five years. I’ve always been a big believer that this show transcends normal TV shows.

“It’s one of the few shows that the whole family from your granny down to the four year old can watch,” he added.
