John Connors has announced that the hit series Love/Hate WILL return to our screens, and one of the show’s most iconic characters is not dead.
When Love/Hate debuted in 2010, it immediately proved popular with Irish audiences.
The drama centred on conflicts among crime gangs, and was set in Dublin’s criminal underground.

Tom Vaughn Lawlor as Nidge and Robert Sheehan as Darren Kennedy were two of the series’ most well-known characters.
Known for playing Patrick Ward in the Irish crime thriller, John Connor revealed details of a new season on The Six O’Clock Show this week.
When asked about the possibility of a new instalment of the show, John told Virgin Media host Brian Dowling: “Yes, it is coming back. It’s going into production later this year.”
John continued: “Yes, it will be out next year. It’s an exclusive but I wasn’t meant to say it till tomorrow. I’m being serious, hand on my heart.”

Although John did not delve into any details of the project, he confirmed his character would make a return: “It’s a long time coming. People don’t realise that it’s 10 years since we did it. But it really feels like it was only a year or two ago.”
Despite this announcement, fans were left confused after Dublin Live reached out to RTÉ to confirm the news.
A spokesperson said: “There are no plans for a new series of Love/Hate. Fans can watch all five series on RTÉ Player.”

However, John has now confirmed the series will not be on RTÉ but will be streamed by Netflix.
“No it’s not on RTÉ, it’s on Netflix, they are bringing it back, a bit like what they did with Top Boy.”
John also revealed the iconic character Nidge was still alive but confessed he would not say any more about the plot: “Nidge is still alive, but that’s all I can say on Nidge.”

Last year, John teased a return of the hit series when he replied to a fan theory online.
One fan commented on a TikTok that “we didn’t actually see Nidge die in the last scene, possibly wounded.”
The fan continued, expressing that they would love to see a new series that followed Nidge leaving prison after 15 years.
John responded: “You’re probably going to see that, actually that’s exactly what’s gong to happen, how did you know? Did you read the new scripts or something?”
