Jennifer Maguire: 'I feel like puking when I watch The Apprentice now – being on it was horrific'

RTE presenter Jennifer Maguire has admitted she had an awful time on The Apprentice.

The telly host, who competed in the BBC series back in 2007, said she feels sorry for the new contestants.

After seeing the new series this week Jennifer said she felt sick.

“As soon as I heard the music I felt like puking all over the TV as the memories came flooding back,” she said.

“It was 2007 and I had dreams of being at least in the final of the show.”

“But, alas, it wasn’t meant to be and myself and the then Sir Alan didn’t really see eye to eye . . . probably because he is a shortarse.

“I can now finally speak out about how horrific the whole process was,” she admitted.

Writing in her column in the Irish Sun on Sunday Jennifer explained that the food was horrible and she barely got any sleep while filming the series.

THE APPRENTICE

Tough time: Jennifer said the show was difficult

“Although I learned a lot, I also lost my dignity for a while after being fired in front of eight and a half million people,” she said.

“There was also the horrible dose of athlete’s foot which we all caught from using the only shower. Gross but true.”

“When I watched it the other night I felt so sorry for the contestants sitting there in the boardroom for what seems like an eternity.”

“You are literally in there for up to three hours as the production team push you to the limit,” she explained.

“The food isn’t great and to say we were looked after would be a lie. I don’t think we ever had a decent meal and instead ate takeaways for weeks on end.”

“And the lack of sleep is another form of torture you have to undergo,” she said.

However Republic of Telly host Jennifer did say the two new Irish contestants Roisin Hogan and Pamela Uddin were doing well so far.

“The Irish girls on the new season did really well and are just keeping quiet and getting on with it which is normally a good thing,” she said.
