Irish influencer Paddy Smyth still ‘in shock’ after winning The Circle as the ‘underdog’

The 31-year-old has won a £70,000 cash prize

Irish influencer Paddy Smyth has revealed that he’s still “in shock” after winning Channel 4 series The Circle on Friday night,.

The disabled activist, who was born with cerebral palsy in his legs, scooped a £70k cash prize after receiving the highest ratings from his fellow players.

Meanwhile Tim, who was tipped to win the top prize, was voted the Viewers Champion by the public, and won himself £30k.

Speaking to The Sun Online, Paddy said: “I am in shock. I just can’t believe as a newcomer I actually did it. It just shows you don’t need to be an original – or even an influencer – to win.”

Paddy was rated first after joining the Circle of Trust with Sammie (James) and Georgina, pushing Tim into third place.

The 31-year-old said he has no regrets about how he played the game, despite receiving criticism from fans of the show.

Paddy said: “Even though Sammie was a catfish, the reasons why James did it were genuine and honest. At the end of the day he had my back.”

“If I hadn’t been part of the Circle of Trust I wouldn’t be here today. I have no regrets. If I’d done anything differently it might mean not ending up as the winner.

“It is a game at the end of the day. You are in isolation working off your own instincts – no body language or eye contact.”

Paddy added: “No one expected me to win, but they were pleasantly pleased for me. It shows the underdog can sometimes win.”
