Irish comedian Deirdre O’Kane defends pal Andrew Maxwell following I’m A Celeb spat

The comedian has been butting heads with his jungle campmates

Deirdre O’Kane has defended her good pal Andrew Maxwell, who’s currently starring on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

During his stint in the jungle, the 44-year-old has butt heads with quite a few of his celebrity campmates, mainly former footballer Ian Wright.

Andrew’s friend and fellow comedian Deirdre has admitted it’s been hard to watch him get upset on TV, but she’s confident his funny side will shine through.

Speaking to the Irish Daily Mirror, she saidL “I know Andrew so I am glued to it [I’m A Celeb], I think he is doing great.”

“I thought last night [Sunday] was tough so we will see how it goes but I hope he stays in long enough so people can see how funny he can be.”

|I know how funny Andrew can be and I don’t think he has had that much opportunity for that to shine through yet, so I hope he can stay long enough so other people can see his talent.”

When asked if she’d ever follow in Andrew’s footsteps and take part in the show herself, Deirdre said: “I wouldn’t be jumping to do it myself now, no.”

“But I think the thing is things like that are very good opportunities so you have to weigh it up carefully, but it is not something I’d be watching saying i’d love to go in it, it is tough going.”

“It is a really tough thing to do. And much tougher I’d say that any of us could imagine,” she added.
