Irish CNN reporter Donie O’Sullivan has won praise on social media, after he reported from the chaos at the US Capitol on Wednesday night.
Four people have died after supporters of US President Donald Trump broke into the US Capitol on Wednesday, protesting Joe Biden’s election victory.
In extraordinary scenes, carnage erupted inside and outside the building, as both Houses of Congress met to debate objections to the election result, before Biden’s scheduled inauguration later this month.
In the midst of the madness, Kerry native Donie shared live updates from outside the Capitol building, which won him a lot of fans on social media.

.@donie, reporting from Capitol Hill: “In 2016 people tried to write off anything about social media, saying oh, it’s only a few Facebook posts, what harm? Here’s the harm. The harm of conspiracy theories, the harm of people living in these online and Trump media echo chambers.” pic.twitter.com/kisSUSNRxb
