Just in time for International Women's Day – We List Our Favourite Irish Ladies

In honour of International Women’s Day, we looked back at what amazing things Irish women in film, tv, radio and online have achieved, and let’s just say – Irish women are bloody great!

From working mums, to women who juggle multiple projects at once and everything in between, us women deserve to be celebrated.

Goss.ie have put together a list of our favourite Irish women in the industry who we think deserve a massive high five (and bottomless glasses of champagne) just being so fab.

Who run the world?

Amy Huberman

Amy Huberman meets Amy Poehler

We don’t think there’s one person in Ireland that doesn’t love the Hubes.

Not only is she an actress, but she’s also a book author, scriptwriter, full-time funny woman AND a mammy all at the same time.

She’s also married to one of Ireland’s greatest rugby heroes Brian O’Driscoll, who she recently caught shedding a tear at Adele.

The most endearing thing about Amy is that, quite frankly, she doesn’t really care about what people think, and she loves a good pun – just check her Twitter and Instagram feeds.

Vogue Williams

Vogue_9

Not only is she our Gossies hostess with the mostess, she’s also a model, DJ, TV personality, a fashionista and she’s gas craic.

While she won a Gossie Award for being the Most Stylish Lady, she’s not afraid to get down and dirty – which we all saw on Bear Gryll’s Mission Survive when she drank her own PEE and went on to win the entire show!

We also love her work on her RTÉ series Vogue Does, which last year saw her getting up close and personal with some of the world’s toughest women and saw her spent some time behind bars.

The question is, what will she do next?

Pippa O’Connor

Pippa O’ Connor Ormond announced as the face of the Dublin Fashion Festival 2015

One of Ireland’s most loved celebrity mums is Pippa O’Connor.

We literally don’t know how this woman does it, from balancing her incredibly popular fashion factories, to working on her blog, her book and being a full-time mum, ALL while she is pregnant with her second child – this woman seriously deserves a medal.

We love following her Snapchat to see what she’s up to, and it seems like she’s always busy despite being heavily pregnant, and of course we can’t get enough of her son Ollie, seriously how can a child be so cute?

Jennifer Zamparelli

VIP Style Awards 2015 - Red Carpet

Jennifer is most definitely one of the funniest personalties on Irish radio and television.

From hilariously hosting Breakfast Republic on 2FM every weekday morning with Bernard and Keith, to making us (almost wet ourselves) laugh on Bridget & Eamon – we all want to be besties with Jen.

She’s also another mammy that manages to juggle all of this at once, having given birth to her first child Florence last year.

This woman deserves a holiday, or at least a nap!

Rosanna Davison

Rosanna Davidson 11

In the past year, Rosanna has successfully changed her usual model title to nutrition expert as she released her first guilt-free cookbook Eat Yourself Beautiful that went to number one on the charts.

The former Miss World is already working on her second book while working as one of Ireland’s top model, and promotes a healthy and happy lifestyle, regularly giving us fitspo on her Instagram.

Rosanna is a force to be reckoned with!

Roz Purcell

Roz

Another model turned nutrition expert, Roz is taking Ireland by storm with her healthy food alternatives and all-natural lifestyle.

Despite winning a Gossie for Top Model, Roz has most recently hung up her modelling shoes as she focuses more on her Natural Born Feeder cookbook and blog while creating guilt-free treats for her exclusive menu in Mooch.

She’s also dating The Blizzards frontman Bressie, who are about to make their comeback this summer.

She’s got it all!

Yvonne Connolly

Yvonne was once one of Ireland’s top models, and is still as beautiful as ever inside and out.

While the mum-of-three was surrounded by controversy when she split from Ronan Keating after he had an affair, she bounced back and is now happier than ever with her beau John Conroy.

At the moment Yvonne is spending her time regularly appearing on TV3’s Seven O’Clock Show for cooking segments giving her tips and tricks in the kitchen.

While she may not be modelling anymore, she’s still one of Ireland’s most stylish ladies!

Laura Whitmore

Laura Whitmore

Laura continues to fly the flag for Ireland internationally as she has become one the UK and Ireland’s most well-known TV presenters.

She won a Gossie for Best Female Presenter, and there’s no wonder why as she works damn hard having worked for MTV for years and most recently ITV as she fronts the popular I’m A Celeb after show in Australia every year.

We can always expect to spot Laura on the red carpet, and she always makes sure to dress to impress, while sporting her very own jewellery line with Daisy London.

While the Bray native spends most of her time in the UK now, her heart will always remain on Irish soil!

Marissa Carter

marissa beach

Hands down, Ireland’s number one Girl Boss is Marissa Carter.

The founder and CEO of tanning brand favourite Cocoa Brown, this woman can do it all.

Having attracted fans in the Kardashians for her products stateside, and having just put on an incredible tanning masterclass with Kardashian make-up artist Joyce Bonelli in London, Marissa is a businesswoman with a lot of heart and A LOT of guts.

She manages a fast-growing company while being a mammy, and manages to remain so humble and takes it all in her stride – this is why we love Marissa.

Miriam O’Callaghan

Saturday Night with Miriam

Miriam is a well-known face and voice on Irish television and radio.

She stands as a voice for Irish women in politics and culture, while being mammy to eight children of her own.

Miriam works on her radio show Sunday with Miriam on Sunday mornings where she talks all things lifestyle, music, human interest and is currently gearing up for her summer return to her Saturday Night with Miriam show on RTÉ.

Kathryn Thomas

Kathryn Thomas & Guests at Today FM

Is there anything Kathryn can’t do?

From hosting the Voice of Ireland and Operation Transformation, Kathryn’s got her hands full but manages to stay in the best shape ever in the midst of it all.

We love Kathryn’s answer to anyone pressuring her to get married, and her attitude towards the old-fashioned expectations of women in Ireland. We wouldn’t mess with her!

Sarah Greene

ifta 6

Sarah is definitely a rising star in the film industry.

From her starring role in in RTÉ’s Rebellion to turning heads on the red carpet, we’d really love to steal her style.

She may have sadly split from Poldark hunk Aidan Turner last year, but Sarah is loving the single life while watching her acting career take off in the mean time.

Saoirse Ronan

saoirse ronan

Probably Ireland’s most talked about actress in the past year, Saoirse Ronan has seriously come into her own since breaking into the industry as a young teen.

After her lead role in Brooklyn which was followed by numerous awards and nominations, including being nominated for Best Actress at The Oscars –  Saoirse is doing Ireland and Irish women proud.

While the Carlow native is currently spending some time on stage, we can only wonder what film projects she’ll set her sights on next.

Emma O’Donoghue

Emma Donoghue & guests at The Late Late

Emma is the brilliant mastermind behind the novel Room, which has made waves in the film industry thanks to Lenny Abrahamason’s incredible adaptation of the story.

While she didn’t bag the Oscar for Best Screenplay, Emma’s a winner in our eyes.

Louise O’Neill

This lady was behind last year’s most talked about Irish book ‘Asking For It’.

We love her writing style and her strong focus on feminist issues, as she shines a light on difficult subjects that some people find difficult to talk about.

Louise is finally seeing her hard work turn into a success story as she has already won prestigious book awards, and her book Only Ever Yours is now being adapted into a movie.

Cecelia Ahern

Guests arrive at the CARI Summer Lunch and Fashion Show

Another one of Ireland’s most loved book authors is Cecelia Ahern.

This woman is a powerhouse when it comes to writing, first breaking onto the best-selling chart scene with PS I Love You which then went on to be made into a blockbuster movie, and has since written 13 novels.

Her latest book The Marble Collector is out now and receiving rave reviews, while her very first Young Adult novel Flawed is set for release on March 24, we’re telling you – powerhouse!

Amanda Byram

Dubai Derby Amanda Byram 5

Not only is Amanda a TV presenter and former model, but she’s also fitness and health motivator.

Through what she calls Byram Bod, Amanda shares her health, beauty, fitness, nutrition tips that keep her in tiptop shape!

As well as keeping fit, she always makes sure to raise the style stakes on the red carpet –  who can forget all of her IFTA’s dresses!

Norah Casey

The Irish Film & Television Academy awards 2014

Norah Casey is definitely one Ireland’s OG Girl Bosses.

She has been CEO of Harmonia, publishing company behind Tatler and Woman’s Way, U Magazine and Food & Wine magazine, for years – and theres no stopping her now.

Norah was also one of the Dragon’s on RTE’s Dragon’s Den, as well as starring in two separate RTE shows in the last two years.

There’s no stopping this Girl Boss!

Victoria Smurfit

Dublin Comic Con 2015 at The RDS

Ireland’s very own Cruella de Vil is Victoria Smurfit.

The actress stars the evil villain in hit US series Once Upon A Time and has made quite a life for herself stateside.

Also a mother to three children, the 41-year-old balances the pressures of Hollywood fame and family life without batting an eyelid.

Caroline Morahan

Another star of Once Upon A Time, Caroline played Queen Elinor in season five of the series.

The Off The Rails star has also been making a name for herself stateside as she has starred in a number of short and feature films, as well as some TV pilots.

Caroline is showing us all to not be afraid to venture out of our comfort zones and not to shy away from the thoughts of trying to achieve your dreams, no matter where you may be.

Suzanne Jackson

Suzanne Jackson 1

Suzanne is one of Ireland leading fashion and beauty bloggers.

The blogger has seen her business and profile rise significantly in the past few years as she has released two bestselling books and even brought out her own line of cosmetics called SoSu, which currently offers gel nail polishes and an amazing contour kit.

With more exciting things in the pipeline for her cosmetics range, we can’t wait to see what she has planned next!

Anna Daly

Anna Daly Mothercare Autumn Winter 2015

Another busy mum that spends her time in front of a camera is Anna Daly.

After working her way up in TV3 for years, last year Anna finally bagged her own weekend show called Saturday AM and Sunday AM which she hosts with her TV husbands Simon Delaney and Ivan Yates.

This lady is just so likeable, and she always makes sure to support Irish designers as she’s regularly spotted wearing Emma Manley’s creations on her show.

Joanne Larby

Another one of Ireland’s leading bloggers, Joanne is all about everything fashion, fitness and beauty.

Better known as The Make Up Fairy, Joanne is a qualified make-up artist and shares her tips and tricks with her followers while spreading inspiration for people to get fit and healthy as she embarked on her own fitness journey last year.

She also works as a plus-size model, spreading love for all the curvy gals out there.

It’s only going to get bigger and better for Joanne!

Maria Walsh

vip83

Maria Walsh has seriously seen her star rise in the past year, and all just from being herself.

She was the first ever openly gay Rose of Tralee, and has successfully won the hearts of the nation as she continues to grace us with her charm.

The former Rose is working mainly on TV projects at the moment, after hosting the TV3 Toy Show with Brian Ormond last year.

Maria has plenty of things hidden up her sleeve, and we can’t wait to see what she does next!

Louise McSharry

Lidl Christmas 30

This woman is what you call an inspiration.

The 2FM host gripped the nation with her documentary F**k Cancer, which followed her as she underwent treatment for Hodkin’s Lymphoma, giving an honest account of dealing with cancer, coping with chemotherapy and hair loss.

She is currently gearing up to release her debut book about her life called Fat Chance: My Life in Ups, Downs and Crisp Sandwiches.

We can’t wait to read!
