Imelda May has opened up about her new romance after finding love during lockdown.
The singer met 27-year-old musician Niall McNamee back in London in 2018, and moved in together over the lockdown.
Speaking to The Sunday Independent, the 46-year-old said: “We hit it off and lockdown kind of flung us together.”

“You either deal with that or you don’t. We’re in each other’s bubble. We didn’t really think it all through, we just didn’t want to be alone.”
“We didn’t expect it to last a year but here we are. Who knows where things will go with anyone,” she added.
Opening up about the couple’s 19-year age gap, Imelda said: “You can line things up as much as you want and follow the rules as much as you want.”
“If two people fall in love, that’s all there is and to have beauty in your life in any way, especially now, is a blessing.”

The new romance comes after Imelda’s divorce from Darrel Higham back in 2015, who she shares her daughter Violet with.
“People talk to me about the divorce and, yes, I had a divorce and it was a tough time but it wasn’t the only time in the last decade,” the Dublin native said.
“I don’t see experiences as good or bad but as things that help you grow. Looking back on it all, I think, God, if it hadn’t happened a lot of other good things wouldn’t have happened.”
