Imelda May has announced that she and her husband Darrel have split up.
The Dublin singer was married to Darrel Higham for thirteen years and he is the guitarist in her band.
“Ok so here it goes… My husband Darrel and I have split up. As you can imagine we are very sad but happy we’re making the right decision for us and our daughter who is doing really well by the way,” she posted on her facebook page.Â

The couple first met in 1997 and they wed in 2002 and welcomed their first daughter Violet in 2012.
The 41-year-old insists her and Darrel will remain really good friends and are being supported by their families.
“No matter what you hear and read my husband and I have the deepest love and respect for each other and are doing well. We are lucky to both have such amazing family and friends,” she added.

The Johnny Got A Boom Boom hit maker has always been a very private person but made the announcement on social media.
“As you know I hate to air my laundry in public and never do but thought I should put something on here to dispel any bad rumours. I wish you and yours much love. God bless. Imelda X,” she revealed.Â
