Hozier admits he’s ‘mortified’ Stephen Fry will be investigated by Gardai for blasphemy

Hozier has admitted that he’s “mortified” that the Gardai are investigating Stephen Fry under the blasphemy law.

Back in 2015 Stephen was interviewed by Gay Byrne for his show Meaning Of Life, and on the show he called God “capricious”, “mean-minded” and “stupid”.

Now the Gardai are launching an investigation, which could result in a fine of €25,000.

The Wicklow musician took to Twitter to voice his outrage, “Christ on a bike. Mortified by this, feel free to report Take Me To Church. Would you believe it’s not about going to church.”

During Gay’s show, he asked Stephen what he would say if he was confronted by God at the pearly gates.

He replied, “How dare you create a world in which there is such misery? It’s not our fault? It’s not right. It’s utterly, utterly evil.

“Why should I respect a capricious, mean-minded, stupid God who creates a world which is so full of injustice and pain?”

He added, “Because the God who created this universe, if it was created by God, is quite clearly a maniac, an utter maniac, totally selfish.”
