It has been revealed that Danny O’Carroll played a significant role in his Dancing With The Stars co-star Jack Woolley’s engagement earlier this week.
Jack took to Instagram to share the news, posting a photo of him and his boyfriend Dave Stig showing off the ring.
The silver Olympic medalist captioned the post: “17/03/2025 💍.”
Speaking with EVOKE, Dave and Jack opened up about their engagement which was a longtime coming for the pair.
Dave explained that he originally planned to propose if Jack won gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics – however, when that didn’t happen he was going to do it when his boyfriend won DWTS.
However, it was Rhys McClenaghan and Laura Nolan won took home the glitter ball trophy last Sunday night.
Therefore, Dave decided he would wait until the pair were on holidays together in Tenerife for a well-earned break – but it was the Mrs. Brown Boys star and Kayleigh Trappe that urged him to get down on one knee at the DWTS wrap party.
“Only three people in the room knew what was going to happen… When Larry Bass, the producer of the show, called me up on stage, people were kind of just looking and going ‘why is he calling Dave?’ The penny dropped then,” Dave told the outlet.
Jack then added: “In his speech, Dave said: ‘This ring has been burning a hole in my pocket for six months!’ Danny O’Carroll and myself are very good friends, and when Dave told him his plan for Tenerife, Danny said: ‘Do it now, because his friends, his family, we’re all here. You’d want to share this kind of moment with everybody.'”
“So that’s why it happened the way it did. That said, I was the one who wanted to do it, but he beat me to it,” sweetly said the 26-year-old.
Under the post announcing their engagement, friends of the pair congratulated them in the comments, and Jack’s dance partner Alexandra Vladimirov wrote: “SCREAMING CRYING ❤️❤️❤️ Two most beautiful people on earth xxx”
Alexandra revealed in an episode a few weeks ago: “Basically, when we started, he goes, you know Alex, if we win, I’m going to get engaged on National Television,” to which Jack replied: “It not happening, its not happening.”
Alexandra then joked: “That might happen, so you better get the ring prepared.”
Jack opened up about his relationship with his boyfriend Dave: “I’m going back to Spain, He’s actually starting the guards in the middle of this year, so I’d like something to kind of just, you know, make the bond a little bit more intense, rather than just being on the opposite sides of the world, like, something kind of nice to have, you know?”
