Hollywood critic says Amy Huberman is a ‘major’ contender for Emmy Award

A Hollywood critic has predicted that Amy Huberman could pick up an Emmy Award for her role in RTÉ legal drama Striking Out.

Ahead of the nominations announcement on July 13, Scott Feniberg, an awards critic with The Hollywood Reporter, has revealed his predictions for this year’s Emmys.

And in his category for Best Actress in a Limited Series or Television Movie, the critic has predicted Amy Huberman as a “major threat” for her role as solicitor Tara Rafferty in Striking Out.

According to Independent.ie, Scott divided his predictions into four categories: frontrunners, major threats, possibilities and long shots; and included actresses from major TV shows such as Big Little Lies, Fargo, and American Crime.

In his frontrunner category, Feniberg listed Nicole Kidman for her role in Big Little Lies, alongside Carrie Coon (Fargo), Reese Witherspoon (Big Little Lies), Jessica Lange (Feud), Susan Sarandon (Feud) and Oprah Winfrey (The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks).

However, the critic sees Amy Huberman as a “major threat” to his frontrunners, and placed her alongside huge TV stars including Felicity Huffman (American Crime), Viola Davis (Custody), Cynthia Nixon (Killing Reagan), Andrea Riseborough (Agatha Christie’s The Witness For Prosecution) and Jessica Froggatt (Dark Angel).

The news comes just two months after Amy picked up an IFTA Award for being the Best Actress in a Lead Role in Drama for her performance in Striking Out.

Amy has been tipped for an Emmy Award after Striking Out received rave reviews in the US after being acquired by Acorn TV.

The Emmy Awards will take place on September 17, and will be held at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles.
