Happy Birthday Bono! 5 reasons we love the U2 frontman

Music legend Bono turns 55-years-old today and in celebration GOSS HQ have compiled a few reason why we love the U2 frontman.

From his infamous love of sunglasses to busking on Grafton Street every Christmas, there’s lots of reasons to love the Dublin musician.

So we give you our top 5 reasons why we love Bono:

1. The sunglasses

Like Pamela Anderson and her boobs, or Rylan Clark and his teeth – Bono would be nothing without his sunglasses.

In fact, the U2 star is photographed with sunnies on so often we at GOSS HQ don’t recognise him when they’re off.

The 55-year-old revealed on the Graham Norton Show last year that he suffers from glaucoma – which was the reason behind his shady lifestyle.

Maintaining his health should always be the rock stars no. 1 priority and we commend him for making the admission.

2. The new blonde locks

Like most Irish men, Bono has always sported a head of dark brown locks.

However, the Dublin native recently debuted a new shade of blonde while out cycling with Jimmy Fallon for a skit on The Tonight Show.

After his nasty bike fall last November leaving him with a broken arm – Bono’s new fair-haired head has inspired him to get back on the saddle once more.

We thank the Beautiful Day singer for finally answering the question that yes, blondes really do have more fun.

3. The charitable heart

Bono has become just as famous for his involvement with charitable causes as he has for his music.

The star was one of the musicians in the original Band Aid campaign in 1984 to raise money for anti-poverty efforts in Ethiopia.

Without question, one of the singers most notable charitable causes has been his famous ONE campaign that hopes to end extreme poverty.

He has also spent time working with other well known organisations like UNICEF, Make Poverty History and Live Aid.

4. Celeb friendships

Bono has made some A-list friends during his time in showbiz.

The U2 frontman is great friends with Oasis musician Noel Gallagher and the pair event went on holiday together in France last Summer.

The Dubliner has also previously been pictured hanging out with the likes of Chris Brown.

Wherever Bono goes, celeb pals are sure to follow.

5. The annual Christmas busking on Grafton Street

Busking on Grafton Street each Christmas is a tradition for Bono.

The singer has sang for shoppers along the famous street every year since 2009 alongside Oscar winner Glen Hansard, Damien Rice and Paddy Casey.

While he had to pull out of performing last year due to suffering a bike injury, we’re sure to see the U2 star back in action this Christmas.
