Greg O’Shea shows off meaningful tattoo after representing Ireland at the Olympics

Greg O’Shea has shown off his meaningful new tattoo, after representing Ireland at the Olympics.

The Limerick native, who shot to fame when he won Love Island in 2019, represented Ireland at the Olympic Games in Tokyo – as part of the Rugby Sevens team.

The team ultimately missed out on a spot in the quarter-finals, but Greg was still “incredibly proud” to have played at the prestigious event.

Greg has since decided to mark his incredible achievement with a tattoo of the Olympic Rings.

The rugby player got the tattoo just inches away from where he lacerated his Achilles tendon back in 2015 – which almost ruined his sporting career.

Sharing a video of his new ink on Instagram, the 26-year-old revealed: “In 2015, I was in a bicycle accident where I completely lacerated my Achilles’ tendon.”

“I had to re-learn how to walk and run. I was told by so many people that I had ruined my chances of ever making it in sport.”

“In 2021, I became an Olympian,” Greg continued.

“Moral of the story, always believe in yourself and never give up on your dreams!”

Now that he’s completed his goal of making it to the Olympics, Greg is hoping to “get back on TV”.

Last month, the former Love Island star said he’d love to appear on another reality show like I’m A Celebrity or Strictly Come Dancing.
