Greg O’Shea ‘incredibly proud’ to have represented Ireland in the Olympics

Greg O’Shea has broken his silence following Ireland’s Rugby Sevens defeat at the Tokyo Olympics.

The Limerick native, who shot to fame when he won Love Island with Amber Gill in 2019, said he was “incredibly proud” to have represented his country in the tournament.

Taking to Instagram after losing to Kenya 22-0, Greg wrote: “It’s impossible to put into words everything that I’m feeling today after playing in the Olympics.”

“This journey has been years in the making and although we didn’t put in the performance we wanted, I am so incredibly proud to have represented my country with my mates at the top sporting level.”

“All I really want to say here is thank you so much to everyone who supported us along the way, I hope we did you proud 💚,” he added.

Ireland lost 22-0 to Kenya on Wednesday morning in a play-off for 9th place, missing out on a spot in the quarter-finals.
