Greg O’Shea has admitted the coronavirus pandemic “really got in the way” of his new relationship.
In recent months, the Love Island star has fuelled speculation he’s dating British influencer Kate Hutchins, after eagle-eyed fans spotted them sharing photos from the same locations.
The 26-year-old was first linked to the popular UK blogger last April, when fans noticed they had posted photos from the same place in Dubai.
Then in August of this year, the pair appeared to be on the Greek Island of Mykonos at the same time.
One month later, the rumoured couple also shared photos from the same restaurant at Kinnitty Castle Hotel in Offaly.
Speaking to Ray D’Arcy on RTÉ Radio 1 this week, Greg confirmed he’s in a new relationship, but didn’t mention Kate by name.
The Limerick native said: “There is someone I’ve been close with over the last while but the pandemic really got in the way.”
“We’re trying to see how that works out now…”
Last week, Greg said he wanted to be more private about his love life going forward.
During a Q&A on Instagram, a follower asked him if there was “any relationships on the horizon”, and Greg replied: “I think it’s only fair I address this with you guys because you always ask and I don’t like ignoring you.”
“I’m preferring to be more private with my love life because I just think it’s best to let relationships happen naturally without the pressure of social media and opinions,” he explained.
“When I’m ready to introduce a person to you guys then I will of course but until then I’m just trying to let it happen without any pressure.”
Kate, who is based in London, is a well-known lifestyle blogger – who has over 559k followers on Instagram.
Greg, who has nearly 1million followers on the app, is best known for winning Love Island in 2019 with Amber Gill.
