Top Irish influencer Grace Mongey, otherwise known as Faces by Grace, was hospitalised earlier this week with a case of mastitis.
The inflammation issue is associated with women who breastfeed, and Grace has been very open with her following regarding her breast feeding struggles.
The blogger was admitted to The Coombe hospital for two days to be treated for the infection, taking a break from sharing her life online while there in order to recuperate.
“I’m back in the land of the living,” she shared via Instagram once out of hospital.
“I have been sent home with two doses of antibiotics and bed rest for the next little while.”
“It was just so unfortunate that I got sick this week and Iv’e just been told this week to rest,” she explained, expressing her regret at missing her masterclass.
“On Wednesday morning I said to Chris I’m just going to get up and go to the doctor and the more I thought about it the more I thought I was best to go back to the Coombe, because they had done all my blood tests and they knew that I had been in before, but I honestly did not think they were going to keep me in.”
“They do a blood test to test the level of infection,” she explained, as the doctors tested her CRP levels. A high level of CRP in the blood is a marker of inflammation in the body.
She went on to say her CRP level was 200, and it needed to be under 100 for her to be allowed home to fiance Chris and daughter Sienna.
“Two days after I was in they measured it again and it was down to 80.”
“I was glad I went back because I think if I had went to the GP she would have looked at me and sent me off with a prescription,” she confessed.
Grace welcomed a healthy baby boy named Hayden in May of 2019 and took to Instagram to share the big news.
“And just like that, our world is complete” she wrote at the time.
Grace has been sharing the majority of her parenting journey, in the hopes of helping other women who are navigating the same struggles.
