Geri Halliwell hid a special message in her Croke Park gig costume

Geri Halliwell hid a very special and empowering message in her opening song costume at last night’s Dublin gig.

The concert was the first show in their World Tour, with Dublin’s Croke Park being the launching venue.

When the foursome, sans Victoria Beckham, appeared on stage, Geri had foregone her iconic Union Jack mini dress in favour of a medieval inspired gown which paid homage to her signature 90s look.

However, what was not immediately visible to the 80,000 members of the audience was the hidden message in the dress.

On the front, a crest was embroidered, and it featured some symbolism that was meaningful to the singer and the band.

“The Union Jack dress belongs to us all,” she wrote in an Instagram caption.

“A family of houses, unified. An evolution of girl power.”

Explaining the crest, she wrote: “Lion – courage of Ginger.”

“Bird – peace of Baby. Leopard – protection of Scary. Panther – strength of Sporty. Lily – elegance of Posh.”

Embroidered across the back of the dress, tucked underneath her hair was embroidered the words “girl power.”
