Georgie Crawford shares heartbreaking update on her surrogacy journey

Georgie Crawford has shared a heartbreaking update on her surrogacy journey.

The podcast host and her husband Jamie were overjoyed when they were finally matched with a surrogate in Ukraine in December, after suffering a number of setbacks.

But sadly amid the ongoing tensions between Russia and Ukraine, the couple have decided to pause the surrogacy process, and have subsequently lost their surrogate mother to another family.

In an update shared on Instagram today, Georgie wrote: “On December 23, all our dreams came true when we were matched with a surrogate in Ukraine and I felt like it was finally real.”

“Over the past two weeks we have watched the news nonstop and have been on an emotional rollercoaster, to say the least.”

“Our embryo transfer was due to take place yesterday but we felt like it was best for our family to ask our clinic if we could pause the process until things (hopefully) settle.”

“Our clinic were so supportive but unfortunately our surrogate mother felt like she had to keep going in the process and was to be put forward to another family who felt ready to proceed. When I say unfortunate, I mean unfortunate for us.”

“I have no doubt in my mind that our surrogate made the best decision for her family. I thought about her all day long yesterday and have nothing but love in my heart for her.”

Georgie then directed her followers to listen to the latest episode of her podcast The Glow Up, in which she opens up about the situation further.

She wrote: “It would feel a bit strange to come onto Instagram to talk about this, at this stage because I wouldn’t know where to start.”

“My podcast is my safe place so I have explained everything about how I feel in today’s ep with my soul sister @clairesolan. I am so grateful for the loving community we have built there over the past 7 weeks.”

“It feels like a very safe place for me. And to all my listeners of The Good Glow, who send me the most incredible messages every single day, I am forever grateful for all the incredible energy you send my way. It goes so far.”

The mother-of-one concluded her posts by writing: “@jamiecrawford and I are thinking of everyone who is facing a really tough decision over the next few weeks.”

“Remember, whatever decision you make will be the best one for your family. We are thinking of all the parents going to Ukraine to collect their beautiful babies and most of all we are praying for peace for the people of Ukraine”

The couple, who tied the knot in 2015, are already parents to a four-year-old daughter named Pia.

Georgie and her husband Jamie have suffered a number of setbacks since they decided to welcome a baby through surrogacy in 2020.

Last summer, the broadcaster admitted they had to change the clinic they were working with as the process “wasn’t moving at a pace” they were comfortable with.

The couple started looking into surrogacy after Georgie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017, and subsequently froze her eggs before undergoing treatment.
