Kathleen Watkins has revealed that her husband Gay Byrne is home from the hospital.
The broadcaster admitted to his listeners that he would be going to hospital because of the possibility of prostate cancer.
“He’s spent the week in hospital and he is coming home today and from today we will know what the treatment is,” she said.

Kathleen thanked her husband’s fans for all their well-wishes and said that their family has appreciated the support.
“I want to really say a big thank you to the nation for the deluge of cards, and well-wishes and phone-calls and everything else, beautiful messages and loving messages for Gay and he really appreciates it all and so do we in the family,” she told Live95 FM.
“People have been so wonderful, I mean the support has been just amazing.
“Of course there isn’t a friend or a family any of us who hasn’t been touched by cancer in this country. And the treatments nowadays as you know have improved greatly and the important thing, I suppose, is for people always to be having a check up.”
Gay explained that he told his listeners that he would be going to hospital to avoid any rumours spreading about his absence.
