Gay Byrne’s daughter Crona has revealed that the support they’ve received from the public has helped them cope, following the death of her beloved dad.

The broadcaster sadly passed away earlier this month, following a long battle with cancer.

Speaking to the Irish Sun, Crona said: “The outpouring of support since dad died has been absolutely incredible.”

“So many people have their own memory and stories about dad, which they’ve been sharing with us. Hearing them has really helped us an awful lot.”

“Because of that, I don’t think we have had time to grieve at all but I think that will come in time.”

Crona also praised the strength of her mother Kathleen, who was married to Gay for 55 years.

“My mother is such an incredible person,” she said. “It’s so hard because she was by dad’s side for so many years and gone through so much with him but she’s been incredibly strong.”

“It’s helped we’ve had so much post, lovely cards and letters, so much post, it’s hard to get through.”
