Footballer to be sentenced after assaulting an Elvis impersonator in Dublin nightclub

Anthony Stokes is set to be sentenced today for assaulting an Elvis impersonator in a Dublin nightclub.

The footballer pleaded guilty to the assault last November, which took place at Buck Whaley’s nightclub on Leeson Street back in June 2013.

The sports star was arrested by appointment in 2014 and charged with assault causing harm to 42-year-old Anthony Bradley – and has been on bail ever since.

The 28-year-old, originally from Dublin, has played for Glasgow Celtic for the past six years.

Anthony has nine caps for the Republic of Ireland, and also counts Arsenal, Sunderland and Hibernian among his former clubs.
