The actor will star alongside Emmett Scanlan in an upcoming Channel 5 series

Fans have finally been given a sneak peek of Paul Mescal in his first TV role since he shot to fame in Normal People.

The 24-year-old will star alongside Emmett Scanlan in an upcoming Channel 5 series called The Deceived.

The four-part psychological thriller will see Paul play the role of local builder McKeough, a confidante to lead character Ophelia.

The series follows Ophelia, played by Emily Reid, as she embarks on an affair with her handsome lecturer Dr Michael Callaghan (Emmett Scanlan)

The thriller also stars Catherine Walker as Dr Callaghan’s wife Roisin, Eleanor Methven as Mary Mulvery, and Ian McElhinney as Michael’s father Hugh.

The series was created and written by Derry Girls’ Lisa McGee and Tobias Beer, and was filmed in Northern Ireland and Cambridge.

The Deceived hasn’t got a release date yet, but Channel 5 have teased that it’s “coming soon”.

On the latest episode of Goss Chats, Ali Ryan sits down with Selling Sunset’s Christine Quinn, who reveals the real drama between the women on the show, and how she battled coronavirus on her wedding day.

#GossChats is sponsored by top Irish aesthetic clinic Haus of JeJuve, which is now back open for bookings.
