The show airs early next year on RTE 1

Des Bishop has been revealed as the first contestant to take part in RTE’s Dancing With The Stars.

The dance show is set to air on RTE in the new year with Nicky Byrne and Amanda Byram as the hosts.

“It’s great, it’s a super popular show. I wasn’t a big watcher of the show but when I was asked to do it, I would happen to be in Ireland,” he said.

The funny man admitted that he’s having a great time rehearsing for the show with his dance parnter Julia.

“I’m totally into it, I’ve already start rehearsing – my life is insane because i’m doing This Is Ireland, a serious show with jokes, then I’m doing Dancing with The Stars,” he told Ryan Tubridy on the Late Late Show.

“All morning I learn my dance moves, then all afternoon I research serious subject, and then I would go to bed and dream about not being prepared for the Leaving Cert.”

However, it’s a long way to go as Des explained that the dancers are only on day four of rehearsals.

Dancing With The Stars airs on RTE 1 on January 8th.
