Samantha Mumba has defended her former manager, Louis Walsh, amid the backlash following the recent Boyzone documentary
Following the release of Sky’s new Boyzone documentary series, the former X-Factor judge has been hit with criticism for his treatment of the hit boyband.
Speaking to Goss.ie ahead of bidding to represent Ireland in the Eurovision, Samantha confessed despite the experience Boyzone had with Louis, she is “grateful for the business” he did for her.
When asked if hat she thought the recent criticism of Louis was fair, Samantha confessed: “You know, one thing I will say is I know everybody in the documentary. I love the lads, I love Louis.”
“I think their experience is their experience and they’re entitled to that.”
“I can only speak on what my experience was with him.
“He’s a manager and he’s a businessman and I’m grateful for the business that he did for me.”

She continued: “I can’t speak on their, I would never impede on anybody else’s experience and they’re entitled to that.”
“Just as an adult I feel like he did a good job. He gave me amazing opportunities and, you know, it’s sad and, you know, I just wish everybody the best.”
She added: “I love the guys, like they’re great.”
Touching more on her experience with Louis as manager, Samantha confessed: “So my experience, the only similarity that I would say and that the guys touched on as well is that he wouldn’t have been a hands-on manager.”

“He wasn’t calling me every day, he wasn’t coming with me everywhere, which honestly kind of suited me as well, you know.”
“I knew he was at the other end of the phone if I needed him, if anything happened I could call him.”
“He never missed a phone call and like I said, he made huge things happen for me in my career and I had my aunt on the road with me as my term manager so I was really happy.”
“I think I was very, very lucky in that regard. So yeah, he, you know, he was a great manager for the years that he did manage me.”
The Late Late Eurosong Special will take place on Friday night on RTÉ One at 9:35.
