EXCLUSIVE! Rosanna Davison reveals the scary reason why she hides her children’s faces on social media

Rosanna Davison has revealed the scary reason why she hides her children’s faces on social media.

The former Miss World and her husband Wes Quirke welcomed their first child Sophia via gestational surrogate in November 2019.

Months later, the couple experienced a fertility miracle, as Rosanna fell pregnant with twins during the first coronavirus lockdown.

The 37-year-old went on to give birth to identical twin boys, named Oscar and Hugo, in November 2020.

Although she regularly shares photos of her three young children with her 290k Instagram followers, Rosanna has never shown their faces online.

The mum-of-three spoke exclusively to Goss.ie at our inaugural Women of the Year Awards on Sunday, and revealed why she hides her kids’ faces on social media.

She said: “Just before Sophia was born, I had a conversation with a friend of mine who had a friend who worked as a Garda, and she had been a part of an investigation into the dark web and photos that were found on that. She told me a story and I just decided there and then I don’t want my kids online.”

“I don’t want to ever put them in a situation where their photos are found on the darkest parts of the internet. I wouldn’t judge anyone else [who shares their kids photos online], I have friends who do it and relatives. It’s an individual decision.”

“I suppose because with Sophia, we went through so much to have her through surrogacy that I was just so protective of her from the start and that continued with the boys obviously as well.”

“Maybe they’ll want to be spies in the future like their great-grandmother and they’ll appreciate the lack of digital footprints!” Rosanna added.

In the same exclusive interview, Rosanna revealed she was approached to film a docuseries with MTV about her family.

She told us: “I’ve been approached by the likes of MTV and shows like that [for a docuseries about our family], but we prefer to keep our children offline and not show them.”

“We want to respect their privacy until they’re a bit older. My husband is very private as well, he doesn’t tend to come to events like this, he stays at home the big dad. We did talk about it when MTV approached us but we just decided that with all of those things in the way that it probably wouldn’t be the best approach.”

“We’re fine. I’m happy just coming out to things and having that part of my life in the public eye, but then having the private side as well.”

Rosanna won the Goss.ie Woman of the Year Award on Sunday.

The mother-of-three won praise this year when she helped her Ukrainian surrogate Anastasiia, who carried her first child Sophia, escape to Ireland amid Russia’s invasion of her home country.

She was also recognised for her work in lobbying the government to implement crucial legislation regarding surrogacy in Ireland.
