News broke earlier today that Peter, Lisa Cannon and Aisling O’Loughlin would be leaving the entertainment show.

Now, Peter has admitted that he’s terrified about the prospect of not having any income, but he’s optimistic about the future.

“I found out last week, My prerogative has and always will be looking after my family. It’s a terrifying thing not to have an income but we are optimistic about the future. We are open to any opportunities,” Peter exclusively told Goss.ie.

Terrified: Peter is disappointed with TV3 – but is moving on | VIPIRELAND.COM

“Obviously I’m very disappointed with the current situation. My main focus right now is my family, putting our heads together and seeing what’s next.

“Best of luck to the entire TV3 family for not only the Autumn launch but future,” he said.

Peter also shared an open letter that he wrote to his 16-year-old self, which he felt was quite fitting after news of his departure broke today:

“Fear, Feelings and Failure embrace them, because nobody’s perfect and these are the elements you should not only embrace but marinade in to become the stew you are today. Well, your sixteen and let me start by saying congrats on making it this far kid because you and I both know the extent of your acting ability and don’t worry nobody can sense or will ever sense the fear and insecurities that pollute you relentlessly. However, I’m here to assure you that there is a yellow brick road laid before you that not only leads to joy and happiness but more importantly a path to self acceptance and contentment.

I was a hyper kid. Being the son of a speech and drama teacher and young mother at that I was always in tow from an early age being constantly surrounded by young and old patrons of the arts from all walks of life. As time passed and the deeper I fell into performance I somewhat struggled with my addiction for attention both on and off the stage. Being an only child of young parents in the 80’s in Ireland one spent a great deal of time with Nana and Granda (my second set of rents) as my parents relentlessly worked to make ends meet and still feel like there was a life outside of parenthood. I’ve always struggled with being alone, so much so that I thought the term “only child” was “lonely child”. It’s for the above reasons why you have always been so close to friends constantly filling that void with tight-knit friendships and perhaps a fear of being forced to dig deep alone and evaluate who you really are. But anyway I’m not here to analyze, judge or criticize you I’m here to encourage you and hopefully make the path to success that you WILL travel as straight as possible.

So lets begin with the ol rugger, I know things seem decent now and your living and breathing it BUT unfortunately you will never live up to the deluded potential you think you have and that’s ok you know why? Because some of the best friends and times you will have are connected to chasing that egg! And speaking of friendships , it’s a myth that deep and meaningful relationships are forged in your formative years. The fact is, over time, you outgrow them. The friends you have in your teens are very different from the ones you have in your 20s. As you search for meaning, with every decade, you will morph into a different animal and will seek bonds that fit the animal you are then.

It’s important for us to talk about the dreaded F word Failure, acquaint yourself with it because you two will spend a considerable amount of time together. I want you to understand the importance of embracing it, if your afraid to fail you will be petrified to try and besides people don’t know how close they are to success when they fail. I want you to want to fail because only by failing can you learn and grow stronger. It’s also as important to know what you don’t want to do as much as what you want to do. You will blow your Leaving Cert this does not mean you stupid or dumb, your simply a lazy bastard! Regroup, focus and apply yourself its only a year out of your life to repeat and trust me in the grand scheme of things it is this year that will prove to be most pivotal in all aspects of your life. You have always been a leader and never a sheep, stay true to this don’t be ashamed to be mannerly and respect people this will open so many doors for you professionally and personally.

Consider this a gift from author David Whyte to you “Heartbreak is how we mature; yet we use the word heartbreak as if it only occurs when things have gone wrong: an unrequited love, a shattered dream… But heartbreak may be the very essence of being human, of being on the journey from here to there, and of coming to care deeply for what we find along the way… There is almost no path a human being can follow that does not lead to heartbreak.”

So young Skywalker I leave you with this; stay true to yourself, be fearless and fail-forward…..
Sincerely, 32 year old you.”
