EXCLUSIVE! Peter Coonan says ‘it was beautiful’ reuniting with Love/Hate’s Charlie Murphy for new film

We chatted to the stars of Dark Lies the Island, Peter Coonan and Charlie Kelly, at the Virgin Media Dublin International Film Festival.

The stars walked the red carpet at the premiere of the movie, and spoke exclusively to Goss.ie about working with the likes of Tommy Tiernan and Pat Shortt.

Charlie told us, “For me it was amazing to come with these people and to work with these people.”

“Like I’ve worked with Peter once before and I’ve admired his work for years before I worked with him. We had a brief scene together in the film and it was amazing to watch.”

“I just learn from all these people. Tommy Tiernan, Pat Shortt, Eoin Geoghegan my brother in it; it was a lot of fun,” he added.

“There’s a lot of talent in this country crew-wise as well, to work with the cinematographer and the director, Ian and Cathal. They’re both so talented and you just learn, I learnt a lot and really enjoyed it. The craic was there.”

Peter also opened up about reuniting with his former Love/Hate co-star, Charlie Murphy, for the film – and said that it was “beautiful” to work with the actress again.

“We didn’t have much to do in Love/Hate together one-on-one. But in this we have quite a close relationship and it was beautiful to do that with her, because she’s an astonishing actress,” he said.
