EXCLUSIVE! Lisa Cannon reveals she's NOT a power lifter anymore – despite TV3 documentary

Lisa Cannon has revealed she has dropped her powerlifting hobby – after turning it into a documentary last year.

The Xpose presenter set herself the challenge of getting fit and healthy in time for a powerlifting competition for the TV3 special.

“I haven’t kept up with it, sadly. I’ve dropped it because I haven’t had a chance to get back into it. Since we went live it’s been pretty crazy,” she told Goss.ie.

“I might take it up a little bit more in the coming months but for now I just want to get my teeth into the new year and maybe take it up in smaller doses later,” she said.

Relaxing: Lisa is taking it easy heading into the new year | BRIAN MCEVOY

While Lisa may be taking it easy for the time being, she admits the powerlifting experience continues to help her live a healthier lifestyle and she  knows her body much better now.

“Powerlifting just educated me as to what is healthy and what is not,”she explained.

“What is the key about doing something like that is the discipline, you realise maybe it’s the discipline that maybe you’re lacking but I didn’t want to be too hard on myself because you’ve got a hectic schedule.

“Plus I was on a horrendous diet. You learn your body a bit better and I’m not drinking at the minute, I wont be drinking till maybe March,” she revealed.

Awards season: Lisa will be covered the Oscars for Xpose | BRIAN MCEVOY

Meanwhile, with awards season now in full swing, Lisa is looking ahead to covering the star studded red carpet events including the exclusive Oscar Wilde party hosted by JJ Abrams covered annually by Xpose.

“I’m covering the Oscars. It’s gonna be huge for us this year, I can’t wait” she told Goss.ie.

“We’re trying to put all our stories together and get ourselves in the frame of mind for it because it’s a long couple of weeks. We’ll be at them all, we usually are.”
