EXCLUSIVE! Lisa Cannon gets emotional ahead of new show: ‘This is a big one for me’

Lisa Cannon is feeling emotional ahead of the premiere of her brand new show, Box Office, on 3e.

The former Xposé host has finally landed her very own show, which promises to bring viewers closer to all the top action from major box office hits, catch up with the big personalities on your favourite shows, and hear some exclusive reviews from their weekly guests.

Speaking to Goss.ie at the launch of Box Office, Lisa revealed that the show is “a big one for me”.

“I’m over the moon. I feel quite emotional today actually, it’s a big one for me. I know my mum would have been so proud because she loved movies as well,” she admitted.

In a touching moment, Lisa also recalled the moment her love of movies was born.

The brunette beauty said, “My Dad brought me to movies and the first film I ever saw was Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. I remember my little legs swinging off the end of the seat and when the velvet curtain opened I was captivated.

“I was just in awe of what I saw, I’d never seen anything like its animation. Every time I turn a movie on I’m excited to see whats coming out of the screen, to see how its going to make me feel. Movies and TV are incredible art forms.

Speaking about taking the leap from being part of a presenting team, to hosting a show on her own, Lisa said, “We are going to be working extremely hard because there is just me and the series producer Cat Steel. I have my producing hat and presenting hat on now.”

“I would run through walls for Cat because she;s incredible, and I know as a team we have to really pull together and make sure the content and scripts are there and make sure everything is ready for air time. You cant drop the ball sadly, and you cant get sick,” she explained.

The presenter went on to say that the new show will focus on all things movie related, but that Irish talent will be at the fore front of its content.

“We need to keep the focus on the movies that are coming out. We want the Irish content. You don’t want to fall into the trap of just throwing in junkets, we wanna get the Irish content.

“We want to have producers, costume designers and sit down chats with celebs about their favourite movies. We need to bring Irish talent into the fore. That’s my key focus,” she revealed on The Daily Goss.

The multi-talented broadcaster will also take up both roles of producer and presenter with Box Office, and is embracing them fully.

Lisa commented, “I like the duality of both, I’m thrilled to be doing both at the minute. Long may it continue. It’s nice to have the creative control, and to cut the dodgy shots or any of the mistakes,” she laughed.

Finally, Lisa parted with some words of wisdom for any aspiring broadcasters, “Get all the experience that you need to learn your craft, it’s taken me a long time to be able to make a passion project of mine. I had been pitching it for a long time.

“Just enjoy what you’re doing and it will come easy. Say yes to everything, be gracious and kind and everyone will respect you in return and will give you a leg up the ladder.”

Box Office begins on June 7th and will air Wednesday nights at 8pm on 3e.
