Kathryn Thomas has opened up about her first few weeks as a mother.
She spoke to Goss.ie about life since the arrival of baby Ellie McLoughlin.
The presenter enjoyed her first night out since the birth of her daughter, and discussed how she was enjoying motherhood so far – but was excited to see all of her TV colleagues after 10 weeks away from work.
The IFTA nominated ‘Weather Live’ presenter revealed how she worried about leaving Ellie with a babysitter for the first time. She explained how she didn’t expect to be one of those mothers but was a little nervy about leaving her.
“I was in the taxi going, ‘Do you know how to turn on the oven? Do you know where there’s a pizza? In the freezer! Do you know where her baby grows are?’ She’s like ‘Yes! You’ve told me 6,000 times!‘” she exclaimed, “I said I wasn’t going to be one of those moms!”
Ellie is the apple of her mother’s eye and Kathryn said, “She’s a little dreamboat!” She went on to say, “She’s just doing so well and it’s a different kind of hard work.”
The 39-year-old went on to say that she has a meeting about returning to work next week but wouldn’t be rushing back.
She has been taking advice from colleagues, friends and family about going back to work and has decided she’ll see what’s out there but will take her time.
The Operation Transformation presenter also revealed that named baby Ellie partially after her great-grandmother but mainly after her the character in the movie ‘Up’, which makes Kathryn cry everytime she watches it.
