EXCLUSIVE! Holly Carpenter opens up about training with new dance partner – ‘I didn’t have time to worry’

We caught up with Holly Carpenter following her first performance on Dancing with the Stars Ireland.

The former Miss Ireland’s dance partner, Curtis Pritchard, was forced to pull out of the show for several weeks after he was attacked at a nightclub just days after Christmas.

Holly was left in good hands though, as producers flew over pro-dancer, Trent Whiddon, to fill in for Curtis during his recovery.

The social media star has now exclusively opened up to Goss.ie about her experience in the competition so far and how it was changing partners just weeks before her debut.

“It was really difficult because first of all we got so close as friends that like, I was devastated for him. I didn’t know how bad it was and I didn’t know if he was going to be able to dance again, or what was going on. Then the attention turned to ‘okay my place in the show. Where do I stand?'” she told us.

“So when I heard a professional was being flown in who had done Strictly, who was well-able and Trent, the moment I met him I knew he’s like a brilliant dancer and a great teacher. So I didn’t have time to worry, I just had to do it.”

As for Curtis’ return, Holly is looking forward to dancing with her close friend again, as she said: “I actually really miss Curtis and know how hungry he is to return.”

The 27-year-old also told us about her the tough training and revealed that there have been some minor injuries: “The falls can really hurt as well, even if you set up a crash-mat. So I’m covered in little bruises and cuts and all sorts.”
