EXCLUSIVE! Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (aka Jaime Lannister) spills what he won’t miss about Liam Cunningham

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau chatted to Goss at the Gala Irish Premiere of his new film 3 THINGS.

The screening is part of the Audi Dublin International Film Festival which runs until the 4th of March.

We know him best as Game of Throne’s Jaime Lannister but the star is slightly less evil in real life (still exceptionally handsome mind you!).

Remarking on what he’d won’t miss when Game of Thrones is over he jokingly slated his co-star Liam Cunningham.

“Liam Cunningham’s bad jokes… It’d be really nice to be rid of that.”

He said it in jest before commenting that at the end of the series he’ll “miss the people, then move on.”

Brian McEvoy

The Dane kept tight lipped when quuestioned about whether Jamie was the character at the centre of the Valonqar theory.

This theory alleges he may be the character to kill Cersei, his sister with whom he had an incestuous relationship and fathered children.

“You’ll have to watch the show. I would get killed if I told you.”

Having felt the bitter cold on his way into Cineworld on Parnell Street he left us with a weather forecast, as Gaeilge!

“Tá a geimhreadh anseo.”

His Irish is about as good as this reporter’s so if there’s errors in that it’s the effort that counts…

His new movie 3 Things takes place in a hotel.

The terms of a witness protection deal with the prime suspect of a robbery and an expert on explosives, Mikael (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau).

In order to agree to the deal, Mikael demands three things from the police: that his former girlfriend is brought to him, that the police bring him the contents of a box he has stored, and that he is served butter chicken from his favourite restaurant.

The police, under heavy time pressure to get him to testify the following day, agree.

Similar to Jamie Lannister his character in this is on paper a bad guy but Nikolaj sees his redeeming qualities.

“I don’t know. Is he a bad guy? … He is a criminal.”

With his soft spot for interesting characters who turn from bad to good, we’re excited to see what roles he takes up in the future.
