Eoghan McDermott has revealed that he aspires to have the same career as Dermot O’Leary.
Speaking to Goss.ie ahead of Electric Picnic, where Eoghan will be DJ-ing over the weekend at 3Live, the presenter admitted that he sees X Factor host Dermot O’Leary as a role model – because he doesn’t recognise himself as a ‘celebrity’.
On the topic of what he hopes for his career in the future, Eoghan said, “I really look at people like Dermot O’Leary, I think he’s amazing”.
“Because I really like his approach to everything, you know, he’s not a ‘celebrity’, he’s just a presenter – and I very much like that approach.

The 33-year-old also cited that Dermot manages to host both a popular radio show, and one of the biggest entertainment shows in the world – but still keeps it cool and remains relatively under the radar.
“He just does his job, and he does it to the best of his ability. He’s brilliant on radio, still breaking new music, he’s hosting the biggest entertainment show – and he’s still cool, but in a, kind of, dad way.
“I would definitely look at his career and his choices, and even how he started off on E4 and all this. I think he’s gone the absolutely right way, he’s amazing,” he added.

Speaking about his upcoming DJ gig at Electric Picnic, Eoghan recalled recently DJ-ing at Longitude, and admitted that although he was nervous nobody would show up – it was all good in the end.
“I did one at Longitude, which to my pleasant surprise, was grand – because I did have nightmares that no one was gonna show up.
“But it was grand and there was a queue to get in so, that was pretty solid,” he told Goss.ie.
