Doireann Garrihy and Jennifer Zamparelli have revealed why they would NEVER compete on Dancing with the Stars.
The hit dance competition show returned to RTÉ One and RTÉ Player in January 2025 for a brand-new season.
The series is once again hosted by Jennifer Zamparelli and Doireann Garrihy this season.

Speaking exclusively to Goss.ie, the pair revealed that they would NEVER switch from hosting to competing.Â
The pair both said “No,” before Doireann continued: “It’s such a massive, major commitment. And I know people who do it, like, the majority of people I think who do it absolutely fall in love with it and say it’s the best thing they’ve ever done.”
Revealing how she technically manifested hosting the show after being asked to compete, Doireann said: “I mean, I met with people in RTÉ, someone in RTÉ who basically said, you know, do you think you would be a contestant? I very cheekily said no because I have a dodgy knee, but I would present it.”

She continued: “Not knowing that Nicky Byrne was about to leave. And then two weeks later, he was like, well, Nicky’s going, so would you like to screen test? So it worked out very well for me to be cheeky.”
Jennifer replied: “I just kept getting pregnant when they were asking me [to compete]”
She continued: “I think we had a taste, myself and Doireann had a taste of the dancing when we did the team dance last year, and we were just dropped into show seven.”

“And they were at a certain level and we were not at that level, so we were under an obscene amount of pressure.”
“But there’s one thing standing on the floor and reading words. There’s another thing standing on the floor and thinking of the music and the dancing and your partner and everybody looking at you and the potential to fall. It is huge and It’s the scariest thing ever.”
