EXCLUSIVE: Claudine Keane opens up about Robbie’s friendship with the late Kobe Bryant

The former NBA star tragically passed away in a helicopter crash this year

Claudine Keane has opened up about her husband Robbie’s friendship with the late Kobe Bryant.

The model spoke exclusively with Goss.ie as she launched SPAR’s Better Choices Back to School Campaign, and revealed how her husband had “gotten to know” the basketball legend while they lived in L.A.

The mother-of-two said she became hooked on the Netflix docuseries The Last Dance over lockdown, which reminded her of meeting some of the NBA’s biggest names.

“I watched The Last Dance with Michael Jordan and I would watch that again – I was obsessed with it,” she said.

“When we were over in the States, we used to go to the Lakers games quite often,” she explained.

“Rob had gotten to know Kobe Bryant a good bit. The people who run LA Galaxy actually partially own the Lakers too so there’s a massive affiliation with basketball and football.”

“We’ve met everyone like Magic Johnson and all those big names. So I was just fascinated watching The Last Dance and seeing the business end of it and seeing the story behind the legacy Michael Jordan has.”

“Also seeing the behind-the-scenes made me connect with it more, I loved that documentary.”

After moving home from L.A last year, Claudine revealed she wouldn’t rule out the possibility of going back by saying: “I would consider going back in the future.”

“I mean now you couldn’t plan anything beyond next week. But going forward, if everything’s safe again I would never rule out going back to the States.”

“We had such a ball there. We met some great friends and people that we keep in contact with still. Rob has great affiliation with the club over there too so we’d never rule anything out.”
