Bernard O’Shea’s performance on Dancing With The Stars last night received rapturous applause from the audience and a standing ovation.

Despite the crowd loving the comedian’s Charleston with Karen Byrne, the judges gave them a meagre 13 points, landing them at the bottom of the scoreboard.

The 2fm presenter wasn’t phased when asked about the low score.

“Honestly I’d prefer to get a standing ovation than high marks. It’s entertaining. My nephew was there, they just want to see entertaining stuff,” he said.

They delivered a fun, high energy performance to Lollipop by Mika, but the 2fm presenter revealed he has faced a major disadvantage competing in the show.

“Because of the radio show (Breakfast Republic) and other TV commitments I can only do 2 or 3 hours (training) a day.”

Other celebrities on the show regularly put in 10 hour days rehearsing in the studio, so the comedian’s busy schedule definitely hinders him in reaching his full potential as a dancer.

However, Bernard, of Bridget and Eamon fame, is not phased by his hectic schedule.

Having previously worked in factories, he spoke of his gratitude to now be in an industry where his work doesn’t feel like work, as he said, :I’ve enjoyed every moment I’ve had on the show.”

The revelations were flowing as he revealed what he’d be dressed up as next week, and shared his plan of action should he land in the first dance off of the series.

“Next week I’m going to dress up as a cat! If I’m in the dance off I’m doing it on me own.”

Jokingly he concluded, “Is it week 7? It feels like 2025!”
