Along with his long-time friend Emma Fogarty, Academy Award candidate, two-time Golden Globe winner, and star of The Penguin Colin Farrell joined Patrick live in the studio.

Emma has been fighting epidermolysis bullosa (EB), sometimes referred to as butterfly skin, the most excruciating form of skin disease, for the longest time in Ireland.

In honour of Emma’s 40th birthday and to raise money for Debra Ireland, Colin and Emma will run the Dublin City Marathon together next week.

Colin Farrell is set to run a marathon to mark his close friend Emma Fogarty’s “miracle” 40th birthday.

Emma is Ireland’s longest-surviving person battling the most severe type of skin condition, epidermolysis bullosa (EB).

The 40-year-old’s parents were told she would not live beyond birth but she reached her 40th birthday last month in a amazing milestone.

Colin will be taking on Emma’s Run to 40 by completing October’s Irish Life Dublin Marathon.

Emma plans to join him for the final 4km of the 42km race.

The Irish star hopes their run, with the public’s help, will raise €400,000 for Debra, the national charity helping 300 people living in Ireland with EB.

Speaking about his close friend, Colin admitted: “Emma Fogarty is not only the strongest person I’ve ever met and a true warrior, I’m lucky enough to call her a friend.”

“The fact that I’m getting to run the Irish Life Dublin Marathon with my friend to celebrate her 40th birthday is something I’m so excited about. She’s already won the whole day!”
