Eoghan McDermott shared an inspiring message on World Mental Health Day.

The radio presenter, who has been open about his own struggles with mental health in the past, posted a video showing the difference between his “social media life” and his “real life”.

The video included a collection of clips from his career as a presenter, interviewing a number of high-profile celebrities, including Ed Sheeran, Rihanna, Macklemore, Katy Perry, and many more.

Taking to Twitter, Eoghan wrote, “At age 26 I self-harmed. This short vid is my “social media” life VS real life. You never know. Be kind to everyone x #WorldMentalHealthDay.”

At the end of the video, Eoghan wrote, “Mental Health will affect 1 in 5 of us directly. You are not a weirdo, a failure or a lost cause. You are a normal person in need of a hand.”

“Asking for help or admitting you need it is not easy. It’s scary as s**t. Been there, I know. But it is the best thing you will ever do. Help is ready and waiting. Be brave and take the leap.

“I am not defined by what I experienced but I am wiser, calmer and stronger because of it. Pieta House offer free counselling and they are nationwide. Check their website for details. Good luck and all the love x,” he added.
