Emily Ratajkowski sponsors Cork basketball team

Emily Ratajkowski is the new sponsor of a Cork basketball team.

The model’s label Inamorata has signed on to sponsor the boys under 15/16’s Bantry basketball team.

The club announced the exciting news via Twitter on Wednesday.

The basketball club said: “Thanks to Emily Ratajkowski @emrata for her new sponsorship of our boys under 15/16 team through her clothing brand @inamoratawoman.”

Emily is of English, Irish, Polish, German, and Polish-Jewish descent, and her middle name is O’Hara.

The 30-year-old’s parents own a holiday home in Bantry, where the club are based.

Speaking to RTÉ, the team’s coach Pat Curran said he’s good friends with the model’s parents and revealed he reached out to them to ask would she sponsor the club’s new jerseys.

He said: “Within minutes we got the yes. It’s funny to see all the reactions and tweets, people think it’s gas but they’re just normal people when it comes to Bantry.”

“She has very good friends here and they’re all connected to the basketball club.”

The basketball club took to Twitter again on Thursday morning to express how proud they are to have Emily on board.

They said: “Having the name Emily Ratajkowski associated with our Basketball club is a proud moment for us. Our Basketball club is about more than throwing a ball into a hoop.”

“It’s about creating the conditions and relationships for young people of any gender, colour, religion or sexual orientation to thrive in our community with the confidence that they can be who they are with our hands at their backs pushing them forward.”

They continued: “Emily Ratajkowski encapsulates that ethos in her daily life and we are so proud to have her associated with our Basketball club.”

“So thank you @emrata for your kind sponsorship, but more important than that, thank you for being such an inspirational role model for the kids of Bantry.”
