Some Ed Sheeran fans were left disappointed by his gig in Phoenix Park last night.
Concert-goers took to social media to vent their frustration at the highly-anticipated gig, where they claimed they experienced overcrowding, bad sound quality and poor views of the stage.
“It was an actual health hazard,” attendee Liz said of the overcrowding. “We brought our 8-year-old son for his 1st concert. When I bought the tickets they were seated only 2 be told we were standing – even though on the confirmation email it states seated location!”
She warned others attending on Friday and Saturday with children to be wary saying, “Ed Sheeran and Annemarie were fantastic but unfortunately for us the organisation and set up wasn’t and spoiled our night.”
Rachael was another fan looking forward to the evening only to be “heartbroken” by the view she was stuck with.
She recounted how they were redirected from the entrance marked on their ticket and a lack of beverages available once they eventually got inside. “We queued at the bar for about 45 minutes” only to find out that “there was no wine and no sparkling wine.”
They couldn’t see or hear the concert properly from where they were standing, “The first picture is as close to the stage as we could get without getting crushed. The second picture is the amount of people BEHIND us who ALSO couldn’t see or hear.”
Rachael and her friend “tried to get into the standing area but couldn’t. The standing area was crammed to capacity before the capacity of people had even gotten in,” they said.
This was her 4th or 5th time to see Ed Sheeran with her friend and she said “we have never been so disappointed,” saying that after going to the hassle of securing tickets “it is utterly soul destroying to go to a concert finally as badly organised as that.”
She said though that “If you’re sitting – you’re bound to have a good night cause anyone we spoke to who was seated has a totally different experience to us.”
I’ve been to many concerts in Phoenix park but I’ve never been to one as poorly organised as Ed sheeran. 50% of the crowd couldn’t fit inside the venue and inside there was a crowd crush. Worst concert I’ve ever been to. #edsheerandublin

Love going to a gig and not being able to see the artist. Hope the merch sales were good though… #EdSheeran pic.twitter.com/8SC9fBLMEW

Crowd control at #edsheerandublin a joke. Very messy.

So if ur heading to @edsheeran in the Phoenix park don’t have your heart set in actually seeing ed! This is as close as I got! Not worth the money or effort! pic.twitter.com/8dLNPe8hql

Emma also has a bad experience, “I’ve been to many concerts in Phoenix park but I’ve never been to one as poorly organised as Ed sheeran. 50% of the crowd couldn’t fit inside the venue and inside there was a crowd crush. Worst concert I’ve ever been to.”
Hazel was also stuck with a poor view due to the seating stands but thankfully not everyone had a bad experience.
Others said the gig was “absolutely incredible”, “great” and “brilliant”!
I personally had the complete opposite experience, got through security with ease around 7:15 and got very close to the stage without any issues. I feel so bad for you!

Totally disagree, went didn’t gain entry till about 5:30 and this was our view. Sound was incredible and people miles out have said they could hear it perfect from their gaffs? We saw no crushings near the front at all, not an accurate rumour pic.twitter.com/8zoXgdFYOE

Ed Sheeran is playing sold-out gigs again in Phoenix Park on Saturday and Sunday. Here is some advice if you’re attending.
