She’s a huge star in the US and now Derry-born Roma Downey has been honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The star – best known for her role as Monica in CBS’s Touched By An Angel – was joined by her producer husband Mark Burnett, her daughter Reilly and stepsons Cameron and James for the celebration.
And to make it even more of a family occasion, Roma’s star is right beside her husband’s on the famous street.
She said: “I get to have a Hollywood Star lying right next to my husband’s Hollywood Star. If there was anyone I was going to lie next to on Hollywood Boulevard , it’s you my love.”
Roma, 56, was also joined by the cast of her and Mark’s latest project Ben-Hur, including Jack Huston, former flame of Cat Deeley.
In April, Roma was honoured with the inaugural Irish Diaspora Award at the IFTAs in Dublin.
Speaking before the ceremony, she said: “I am so grateful to IFTA and the Irish Government for honouring me with the inaugural Irish Diaspora Award.
“While I’m blessed to have had a successful career in the United States, that success has been built on all that I learned growing up in Derry: Integrity, character, tenacity, the value of working hard, daring to dream big, and of course to always have a sense of humor and not take myself too seriously!
“I just love Ireland and the Irish people and I am so thankful to come back and celebrate in Dublin, which makes it even more special and fun.”
