Doireann Garrihy shares heartfelt tribute to Niamh Flanagan who lost her battle with cancer

Doireann Garrihy has shared her heartbreak as one of her young followers, Niamh Flanagan, passed away after brave battle with cancerous tumours in her bones about which she blogged.

Niamh was a 20-year-old osteosarcoma fighter who tragically lost her fight for life.

The Snapchat star shared a beautiful post on Instagram about the profound effect Niamh’s positive attitude has had on her everyday since they first met in Dublin to hangout and have pancakes.

“My heart breaks to hear that Niamh Flanagan lost her battle with cancer last night. I met Niamh back in November and in one way or another, she has crossed my mind every day since. The day I met her she was up in Dublin with her parents for serious treatment, but all she wanted to talk about was how nice it was to browse the shops and spend time with her Mom and Dad.”

“Her positivity, strength and will to fight was like nothing I’d seen before. From the day I met her, she became my daily reminder that no matter how bad your situation might be, only you are in control of how you deal with it. She fought to the very end with a smile on her face ???? Rest In Peace Niamh. You were someone truly special.????”

Happy Mother’s Day to the best mum there is! ????????❤ To most, they’re mothers have done normal day to day things that are expected of a mother I suppose!???? But to me, my mother has gone above and beyond to make sure I’m always okay through this???? She just goes that extra mile with everything to make me happy and content as best I can be! So thank you so much @liz_flanagan73_ for being literally the best???? I love you loads Mam and as they do say, there’s no better friend than your mother???????? You’ve definitely been more than the mother role the last 8 months anyway, that’s for sure! The list Is endless as to all the roles you’ve had to play???? thank you so much Mammy????????

She blogged about her journey through treatment on Niamh’s Journey There, the opening page of which states “YOU DON’T KNOW HOW STRONG YOU ARE UNTIL YOU HAVE TO BE.”

An excerpt from her last blog post reads “We always expect to hear about the tragedies and for it to be strangers involved or worse than that, God forbid it would be someone we knew. The point is though… it’s always expected in our heads for it to be someone else sub-consciously, never me.”

Rest in peace Niamh. ????
