Doireann Garrihy joins 2FM as Jenny Greene RETURNS – and another favourite announces departure

RTÉ 2FM have announced some huge changes to their line up – including a new show with Doireann Garrihy and Eoghan McDermott – and the return of Jenny Greene.

In a statement the broadcaster confirmed that Doireann Garrihy is joining 2FM to co-present an all-new breakfast show with Eoghan McDermott, weekdays from 6am-9am.

Goss.ie had exclusively revealed 2FM bosses were planning a new show for the social media star.

It comes after two series of The Doireann Project on the RTÉ Player and presenting The Podge and Rodge Show on RTÉ2.

It’s no surprise to many in showbiz cirlces, as rumours have been rife for weeks that Eoghan and Doireann were working on a new show together. And were spotted hanging out at several events over the past few weeks.

And in a surprise move Jenny Greene is returning to the station, after she had announced her departure when she revealed she had been offered a night time show while Nicky Byrne took a break to perform with Westlife.

Jenny will now take over Eoghan McDermott’s drive time slot, “with a massive mix of music, celebrity guests from the world of entertainment and sport.”

Jenny will also continue to present The Electric Disco on 2FM every Saturday night from 6pm-8pm.

And Jennifer Zamparelli will now take on her own morning programme, weekdays from 9am – 12pm.

Meanwhile her co-hosts Keith Walsh will move to the weekends to host a brand new show but Bernard O’Shea has officially left the station, with a statement stating that he will “work on other projects”.

And Lottie Ryan, who had been filling in on Breakfast Republic for the last year, will now stay with her daily entertainment news slots throughout different shows.

And 2FM stars Tara Stewart and Conor Behan will be taking on Louise McSharry’s night time slot, with 2FM confirming to Goss.ie that Tara and Conor will “share” the show while she is on maternity leave.

Stephen Byrne’s weekend show will stay in the same slot, as will Tracy Clifford’s daytime show.

“Jennifer and Keith are going to present their own new shows. Bernard, one of Ireland’s great comedians and content creators will be focusing on other projects.

“I’m really confident that our new breakfast duo, Doireann and Eoghan will bring 2FM listeners what they want – and I know Jenny Greene will shake up all our afternoons, in the best way possible.”
