Doireann Garrihy admits she was ‘so nervous’ returning to RTÉ 2FM

Doireann Garrihy took to her Instagram story to share that she was “so nervous” to return to RTÉ 2FM.

The Dancing With the Stars host has just began her own Drivetime show on the station, after having previously hosted 2FM Breakfast alongside Carl Mullan and Donncha O’Callaghan.

“I didn’t come on my stories after the show yesterday because I got home, had food, decompressed. I was so nervous yesterday. I don’t know what was wrong with me,” began Doireann.

She shared that she “couldn’t shake the nerves” and felt really anxious for the first twenty minutes of the show but then felt like she “got into it.”

“But… I’m nervous again today. But look, that’s to be expected I suppose for the first week – but, overall, could not be happier with how it went.”

Doireann thanked the listeners and those supporting her in her return to radio, and said: “The texts, the dms, and the voice notes. It just means so much to me to feel like you’re there.”

“So, thank you so much. I’m so grateful and I’m so delighted to be just figuring it all out as we go.”

The 32-year-old also shared that “one thing she was excited about for afternoon radio was to have time to put on nice clothes and do make-up and hair and whatever.”

“I went to get ready yesterday and all I know is cosy jumpers and leggings for radio.”

She contemplated that perhaps she should stick to that “radio uniform” but today she “upgraded to jeans.”

Sharing the news that she was returning to RTÉ 2FM in January, Doireann wrote on Instagram: “Radio is where my heart is, and absence has only made the heart grow fonder 🥹 It is an absolute dream come true to have my very own show.”

Doireann’s new Drivetime show promises to take listeners home “offering the hottest tracks, entertainment updates, and feel-good vibes to power the evening commute.”
