Aslan’s Christy Dignam has revealed the devastating news that his cancer has returned.
The legendary singer told The Irish Sun that he received the news a few days ago following some blood tests.
“I got a terrible shock. I got the result from my monthly blood test that I’m most afraid of.
“It was the worst news I could get, that this negative protein is growing inside my body.”

“All I can do now is more chemo but I’m not confident. Your blood develops an immunity to treatment so there’s no guarantee it’s going to work.”
The Aslan frontman told his wife and his daughter the news straight away, but says that they stay strong for him.
“Kathryn never reacts or gets upset because she wants to be strong for me. My daughter Kiera is the same. I rang to tell her immediately so she knew.”

Aslan’s keyboardist Pat ‘Fitzy’ Fitzpatrick, manager Svenn Braamark and social media manager Grace McDermott all passed away in the last year.
Christy said, “If you had said to me last year, ‘who in Aslan will be dead in the next twelve months?’, I would said me because I have cancer.
“But Fitzy our keyboard player then Svenn our manager. It’s like the world around Aslan is crumbling.
“I might look healthy but I’m in lot of pain. I suppose it’s the human spirit to adapt to whatever situation you’re in but I really don’t know.”
