Des Cahill reveals who convinced him to join Dancing With The Stars

The broadcaster wasn't mad about the idea at the beginning

Des Cahill has revealed that it was his wife who convinced him to say yes to Dancing With The Stars.

The RTE broadcaster said that at first he didn’t even think about saying yes, until his wife convinced him otherwise.

“I said to my wife, ‘Do you know, I was asked today to do that?’ And she said, ‘What did you say?’ I said, ‘I wouldn’t do it’. ‘Oh you should!’ she said. ‘It’d be great for you. It’d be good exercise, it’d be fun’.”

The 63-year-old told RTÉ Entertainment, “I didn’t see it as fun or exercise, though the exercise thing I understood.”

The broadcaster also revealed that training for the show is much harder than he first thought it would be.

“My age and lack of fitness is a disadvantage. But the biggest one, I find, is trying to combine it. I didn’t realise there’d be so much involved.

Dancing Dessie took Ireland by storm with his funky Austin Powers performance last week.
