Dermot Bannon is hoping to renovate another Irish celebrity’s house, after he teamed up with Daniel and Majella O’Donnell for the last series of Room To Improve.

The episode went down a hit with viewers, and drew a massive audience of 722,000 viewers, making it the highest-rated programme on RTÉ so far this year.

But now, the celebrity architect has his sights set on Mrs Brown’s Boys creator Brendan O’Carroll.

“I’d love to do Brendan O’Carroll’s house, wouldn’t that be great to do Mrs Brown’s house,” he told Independent.ie.

Room To Improve has become a huge success over the years, and Dermot has found fame since appearing on the show’s first season.

Speaking about his popularity with the public, he laughed, “I don’t get any knickers in the post anyway.”

He continued, “I get a good bit [of fan mail] into the office, I get a lot of school children writing to me. So many school children have written to me, I am going to respond to them all, I’ve responded to about three at the moment, but I do intend to write to them all.”

“It’s weird when you get it first, normally it’s from school kids that love the show, and they’re interested and engaged so that’s great. I’ve never gotten a strange gift… I did a programme in America once where I was cooking porridge and I burnt it, and Flahavan’s sent me over a massive hamper which was great for someone like me who loves porridge.”

Quantity Surveyor Lisa O’Brien recently announced her plans to leave the show, and speaking about her departure, Dermot said, “I’ve been working with her for two years. She’s a good friend, and she always will be.”

“She’s a QS who we would work with a lot anyway. I’ll miss working with her on the show. It’s lovely to have a pal on the show who you know will have your back. But it’s not the end of the road for us by any means because we work with her in the office.”
