Dermot Bannon admits he receives ‘really nasty’ messages from Room To Improve viewers

Dermot Bannon has admitted he receives “really nasty” messages from Room To Improve viewers online.

The celebrity architect has been filming the series since 2007, and has had to deal with a lot of negative comments about him and the show ever since.

Speaking to Ray D’Arcy on his RTÉ Radio 1 show, Dermot said: “I read some of [the tweets], I can’t keep up with them.”

“There was a stage I stayed up until 2am reading them all and someone would put up a really nasty message and I’d like it and then they’d get freaked out.”

“There’s nothing I haven’t read about myself at this stage. It’s all water off a duck’s back,” he said.

“Some of them I find hilarious and clever. They don’t know you and they’re just trying to be funny.”

“There was one that the language was horrendous that was sent to me on Instagram and then I liked it and then he got freaked out the next day and says ‘Oh my god I feel really bad’,” Dermot continued.

“But, look that’s part of it. I don’t enjoy it but I don’t mind it either. I kind of accept that when you’re doing something like this, it comes with the territory.”

Season 13 of Room To Improve recently returned to RTÉ One.

The popular programme airs on Sundays at 9.30pm.
