Dave Fanning has said that the lack of females in the Irish music industry is “criminal.”

The broadcasting legend told The Irish Mirror, “The lack of women on the scene is frightening.”

“You do have your Lisa Hannigans and all the rest and obviously Sinead [O’Connor] but there is a total lack.

“There’s bands like Fight Like Apes and Ham Sandwich that have a woman out front but there is a lack of women and I don’t really know what that is.”
